This is an old Celtic festival that celebrates ‘fertility’ (the ability to have babies) and the coming of Summer.
The biggest celebration is in Edinburgh, but Beltane is celebrated by many people all over the UK.

The main part of Beltane is the lighting of fires which people believed ‘purify’ (make pure) and clean our minds and bodies.
There are many people performing at the festival, but the main characters are a May Queen, a Blue Man, a Green Man, Red Men and White Women, all representing different parts of life.
